MEET FRANKLIN
North New Jersey

Franklin is a 5 year old, 9 lb. male black and tan Papillon-Chihuahua mix (best guess). This little guy is the sweetest little love bug. He is a Velcro dog that LOVES being with his people. He is a great little companion and enjoys mild walks, sniffing in the yard, lounging around, and giving kisses. Mostly, he just wants to be glued to his people.

He lives with other small breed pups in his foster home and is not interested in them. He is a good eater and goes potty outside. He does know how to use a potty pad if you have them down. He would be ok with teenagers and up (no small kids).

Franklin was dumped in a NYC shelter by his family when they couldn’t afford his medical care. He hurt his neck and it was obvious he either fell or was dropped. We did an MRI to make sure it was nothing serious and thankfully his symptoms are mild and only required crate rest.

HOWEVER, this will need to be managed for the rest of his life to ensure he doesn’t slip a disc. He can only use a harness, no collars around his neck. The groomer cannot restrain him by the neck. No jumping on/off furniture, no going up and down stairs (he must be carried). He needs a quiet home environment to just hang out with his people and give them tons of love.

His ideal home will be an only pet so there can never be a spat that could cause his neck to flare up (they whip their head around when sparring and it can injure him). He can live with another small SUPER chill and passive pup and a meet & greet is required. Also, no children. He is not a toy and cannot be man handled.

He has been neutered, brought UTD on vaccines, had a dental, xrays, MRI, full blood panel, HW negative, dewormed, groomed, and chipped.

Franklin’s adoption fee is $450.  (we spent more than $4,000 on him)

ABOUT OUR PROCESS:
WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants.

We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page.

PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered.

We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.

Please DO NOT be inappropriate when engaging with our rescue. We will not tolerate harassment, stalking, threats, slander, extortion, intimidation, or theft. This includes, but is not limited to, incessant emailing and social media posting to demand a dog, contacting our volunteers on their personal emails and phone numbers, showing up at our volunteers’ homes uninvited, publicly blasting on social media in an attempt to circumvent the process, volunteering as a guise to extort/steal a dog, slandering us online because you were not chosen for the dog, and/or contacting our Facebook followers about a dog.

While we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm and desire to adopt one of our pups, improper behaviors exhibited during the adoption process will disqualify your application. Our time and resources need to be focused on the dogs and cannot be spent on inappropriate behavior, nor should our volunteers be subjected to such, and we will take legal action if warranted. Thank you for your understanding and support with our process.

Note: adoption donations are not negotiable. Our typical investment in our dogs is $1,200 and it goes up from there so our adoption fees do not even cover their vet bills. If you cannot afford an adoption fee, you should not be adopting any dog. They are expensive, especially these little ones!
