We list specifics about their temperament, health, special needs, and living requirements so you can determine if the dog is a good fit for your lifestyle, home, and personality.

Please note that we will NOT process incomplete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. We reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone for any reason at any time during the adoption process.

Due to the COVID19 virus and resulting displacement and euthanasia of countless family pets, we have incorporated statements in our Adoption Contract to ensure Gingerbread Dogs are returned to The Gingerbread House Sanctuary & Rescue in the event adopters and their families can no longer care for the dog(s) either temporarily or permanently. As part of the Adoption Contract, adopters must agree to put succession planning measures into place as outlined in the Adoption Contract, including leaving microchips registered to GBH and providing their family/emergency contacts with GBH contact information. For temporary medical situations, dogs will be returned to owners upon their ability to once again care for their dog(s).

Applicants certify that the information provided in this Adoption Application is true and accurate and that they will have sole responsibility in the care and well-being of the adopted dog(s). Any misrepresentation with this adoption application or omission of certain information may result in the application being denied. Misrepresentation and/or omission will invalidate any future adoption contract and the dog(s) will be reclaimed by The Gingerbread House Sanctuary & Rescue and no refund will be given for any adoption donation. Prior to adoption, all dogs receive age-appropriate vetting that may include: exams, blood work, xrays, dental cleaning, ultrasound, MRI, eye tests, spay/neuter, fecal/urinalysis, vaccines, heartworm and Lyme test, deworming, microchip, and/or other advanced medical tests.
